I am FIERCE

A few days ago, I made a post with some inspirational quotes and mantras.

I posted this one in particular.

When I was browsing through pinterest, this popped out and caught my attention.

Every year around my birthday I think, this is my year.  I'm gunna lose all the weight, I'm gunna eat healthy, only drink water, and eat clean foods.  I'm going to "get rid of" my anxiety and depression, I'm need to be MORE than I was last year, I need to be happier, prettier, skinnier, healthier.

This year is different though.

This year, I won't be skinnier.  I won't give up McDonalds Cheeseburgers, I won't (totally) give up soda, or caffeine. I won't get rid of my anxiety or depression.  I won't be more, I won't be happier, prettier, skinnier, or healthier.

This year.  I will be FIERCE.

I will not be afraid to be who I am.  I will not be self conscience of my weight, hair, personality, or outward appearance.

This year. I will be stronger. I will put on my big girl pants and stop caring what every Tom, Dick, and Harry (or Tina, Dina, and Harriet) think of me.  I will stop wondering what the bitty in the beauty salon is saying about me when I leave the room.  I will be strong enough to not care if some stranger I've never met doesn't like me.  I will be strong enough to remind myself I AM enough.  I will be strong enough to tell that ugly black monster in my head that I AM ENOUGH!

This year, I will be braver.  I will do something everyday that scares the daylights out of me. (Even if its just talking to a stranger, or walking into a room of people I don't know) I will be brave enough to be exactly who I want to be.  I will be brave enough to say exactly what I need to say. I will not be afraid to hurt someones feelings if it means saving someone else, or myself. I will be brave, and unafraid of all the things anxiety tells me I should be afraid of.

This year, I will be kinder.  I will be kinder to myself.  I will look in the mirror every morning and try to love something about myself, even when the world and society tell me exactly what is wrong with me.  I will be kinder to the people who love me, I will tell them I love and appreciate them. I will be kinder to the people who don't love me, the people who talk behind my back and contribute to all the nay sayings of my own self conscience, I will look them in the eye, and smile, because I AM ENOUGH, and I don't need them to think that to know that it's true.  I will be kinder to people I've never met, I will do my best not to make pre-judgements about people just because of the things other people say about them.

This year, I will be UNSTOPPABLE.  I will not let my fear of the unknown and the constant griping of the black monster get in the way of things I want to do and see.  I will go on that adventure, even if I am afraid.  I will visit that city, even if its unknown and scary. I will go to that concert, even though its on a work night, and I might be tired, and responsibilities and ... blah. blah. blah.  There will always be something that you "shouldn't do" but sometimes those are the things you need to do the most.  We were not born to "go to work, pay bills, and die." We were born to live life and have experiences.  This year, I will do that.  (while still maintaining a reasonable amount of responsibility, because, hey, you gotta have some money to pay for those experiences ;) )

This year, I will be me.  I will be FIERCE!

Here's to #23 baby!

Inspirational Printables ~freebie~

It's my birthday! I'm feeling generous, loved, and VERY inspired.

I've spent the day at work, updating iPads and decorating my classroom.  I have a "door of inspiration" in my classroom, mostly filled with warm fuzzies I found on pinterest.  But a few of my own creations, so I thought I would share a few with you!

I love this quote, so I made it into a cute little thing, so now it can hang on my door of inspiration. I did create this one.

This one, I did not create, but I am using it as my motto for this year, I will make a whole post about it, sometime this week.  I am enough, I am FIERCE!
This one is my favorite thing I have ever made I think.  I am in constant need of being reminded that I am tough, and yeah, somedays life is REALLY hard, but I am tough, and brave a strong, and I WILL make it to tomorrow.
So there are a few, more to come I am sure!

Thanks for reading ;)

Re purposed Chicken Feeder {doodlebug designs}

Its been a while since we last posted...

WE SOLD OUR HOUSE!!! At least it's under contract, so as good as sold! That being said, we have been SO busy lately, with showing the house, then cleaning, packing, and working, and parenting.  There hasn't been a whole lot of free time for crafting.  Which make both of us a little down in the dumps.

We still find time to do a few little projects, and a few weeks ago, we took a day off from all the ho hums of life (packing, and cleaning, and working) and got down to a few things we've really wanted to do....
Slightly broken, very dirty chicken feeder. {BEFORE}
After, gorgeous planter!
I found two of these chicken feeders $5 each on a local yard sale site. They were a bit broken down, but I saw some hidden beauty in them! I spray painted the tin a way pretty "poppy red" color that I've been eyeing forever but could never find a project for. Then I painted the wood white, sanded, and stained over it so it looks antique-ish. I love the way it turned out and I can't wait to plant my flowers in it!

Thomas The Train Birthday Banner {Free Printable}

For those of you who don't know.  Jack LOVES Thomas and Friends.  We have watched every one on Netflix and have 5-10 of the little blue train's Feature Films on DVD.

Anytime there is a TV, he finds the remote and loudly exclaims "CHOO CHOO!!!"

So, needless to say, we are having a Thomas the Train Party.

His birthday isn't until May, but I always look ahead.. (lies, I always procrastinate.) But not this time! Planning ahead, and working on some fun printables for his birthday!

I thought I'd share the wealth, and give you a sneak peek at the awesomeness that will be Jack's 2nd Birthday Party.

Have a printable; on me!

Shonda Rhimes: My Year of Saying Yes

So most of you know, I have an obsession with TED Talks.  I always listen to them at work while I'm updating, or doing paperwork, or ... basically anything I can do while staying within earshot of my computer.

I've listened to LOTS of Ted Talks.  Lots.  Like 2-4 a day, about any topic from depression, to art, to poetry, to science.  Lots of things.

You also may know, I love watching TV, Grey's Anatomy and Supernatural are my favorites, but I also enjoy a great variety of shows.  Coincidentally, most of the shows I love-- sans supernatural-- were created or produced by Shonda Rhimes, How to Get Away With Murder, and Greys Anatomy, I've very recently started watching Scandal.  She's great.

Getting off track; when I saw a TED Talk by Shonda Rhimes, I got excited.  She's amazing, responsible for HOURS and HOURS of television, and has taken part in some of the longest running, most influential TV programs of all time.

I started listening and was shocked at what I heard.

Please, take a minute (okay, take 19 minutes) and listen to this "titan" tell you about her "hum"

Also, how pretty is she?!  PERFECT SKIN!

You may think:  I thought this was a craft blog... Well it is.  Crafting helps give me my hum. DoodleBug Designs gives me joy, and the fact that I can do it with my family, gives me SO much happiness.

I just wanted to share this with you.  So if you are struggling to find your happy.  It may be able to help.

Because you just never know

Because just because someone seems okay on the outside, doesn't mean they're okay on the inside.

Depression is so real

So so real, and it hurts so many, so badly.

Odds and Ends {doodlebug}

I know I've already posted about custom orders, but we truly love custom orders, they are our favorite types of signs/decor to do.  S

Some people see something on pinterest that sparks an idea, they tell us their idea, and we do what we can to make it come true.  That being said, for the most part, we don't like to copy things EXACTLY because we know that people work hard to make things, and to copy it exactly, colors, fonts, style is disrespectful. Usually when we get a custom order for a request off of pinterest, we change fonts, colors, and style, but may use the same quote or certain elements of it.

Other people just have an idea in their head, but they're not sure how to make it come true.  That's why we are here!  If you have an idea for home decor, let us know!  We can make your idea a reality, cause man, you smaaaart, and you has some good ideas!

The Bed of Beds. {doodlebug}

If you follow us on facebook then you have seen this, but bare with us for a moment, this is one of my proudest accomplishments.

Keith and I... BUILT A BED!  In a little less than 12 hours.

and... its a gorgeous bed.

THE BED!!!

We plan to paint it white, with grey over it at some point, but its cold outside, so for now, its wood colored and smells like heaven.

Be proud.  This project came in at right around $160 (wood, screws, brackets etc.)

We were looking to buy the same type/look of bed and it was over $800 so... I'd call that a win!!!

Spring City Candy Cane Boutique {doodlebug}

After the fall festival, we considered being vendors at the Mistletoe mall again, or possibly the one that is the same weekend, Novemberfest.  But we were discouraged at the nonsuccess we had last year, so we bagged that idea, and I began looking for a different one.  I found out about the Candy Cane Boutique in Spring City, a little town about 15 minutes from us.  We had success in the past at fairs in the North End of the county, so we decided to give it a try.

We signed up and prepared (all of these stories have that line in there somewhere right??)

Candy Cane Boutique is a 2 day show, it was so fun.

The people were all soooo nice, and we made a few friends, and saw a few that we had seen before.

The food was EXCELLENT (I think I ate my weight in delicious hot dogs, soups, and salads)!

We definitely plan to do this again, it was so much fun!

Sanpete Fall Festival Take 2 {doodlebug}

In a previous post, I talked about the Fall Festival, the first year we did it, it was at a local park, tucked behind the gas station.

It was a flop

You can read more about that here.

Well, I'm an optimist to a fault, and I really like the gal that is in charge of the fall festival, so we signed up again, this time it was in cahoots with our Middle School's fall festival, there was to be a Zombie fun run, and a few other fun things.  So we were excited, we put together a ton of stuff, and we were ready to go!

The date was late October (hence the zombie run)

We had just built a craft booth that was a whole lot more practical to display our stuff.

We had signed up for a different craft fair later in November, so we figured whatever we didn't sell at Fall Festival we could add to our inventory for the next boutique.

SURPRISE, we did alright!

It wasn't a huge show, but it was fun, as always to go and sit with my cute husband for a day, and it was a sunshiney warm day.  All in all, we made a little money, and had a good day.

Success.
One of my favorites that I've ever made.
